This interactive model has been embedded from a Facebook 3D post. These type of posts use a native Facebook 3D format which is set to become the new standard for online 3D, which will include Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality.

The mobile device navigation uses the gyro, accelerometer and compass to good effect. PC navigation is via mouse/pad, there are some added features when viewing the 3D Post on a Facebook webpage or App.

The 3d models required for these Posts have to be very efficiently put together. For example the original CAD model may be 100 MB, our polygon models for rendering videos or stills maybe 30MB but for Facebook 3D Posts the model must be under 3 MB.

The viral marketing potential for anything attention grabbing on Facebook, such as these 3D Posts, is huge.

We have tried out various VR Helmets such as Occulus Rift, HTC Vive and Samsung Gear. However impressive they may be we are mindful that they are yet to be widely adopted. As such we don’t feel they currently offer our clients an efficient way to communicate their ideas.
